New REACH air medical base opened in Porterville
Now in service, the base is the first of its kind in the Visalia-Porterville metropolitan area
REACH Air Medical Services (REACH), who provide critical care air and ground transport services, has announced its newest air medical transport base is now in service in Tulare County.
The new base is the first to be opened in the Visalia-Porterville metropolitan area. Located in Porterville, it will provide emerging air medical transportation to the communities of San Joaquin Valley and the town of Porterville.
Vicky Spediacci, Air Chief Operating Officer for REACH’s parent company Global Medical Response (GMR), said: “Having an air medical base strategically located in Porterville will not only benefit the town and the communities of the San Joaquin Valley but will also benefit travelers going south to Los Angeles or north to Fresno or Sacramento along state route 99, state route 65 and Interstate 5.”
She also stated that Porterville is located along a major transportation corridor for the state of California.
The Airbus H-125 utilized at the base uses new safety features and avionics in its configuration for medical purposes.
The base will be maintained by aviation maintenance technicians and staffed by trained and experienced pilots, flight paramedics and flight nurses.
