Crash-resistant fuel system developed for KA-227T
A crash-resistant fuel system that prevents fuel spill and detonation during hard landings has been developed for the Russian KA-227T helicopter
The KA-227T is the first Russian helicopter to be fitted with a crash-resistant fuel system. The design work was completed in 2017 and has now passed tests, which included the dumping of fuel tank mock-ups from a height of more than 15 meters.
The KA-227T has been selected to be manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and Russian Helicopters. The model is a light helicopter built on a modular platform, which can be changed as per requirement.
Russian Helicopters signed a roadmap with Indo-Russian Helicopters Limited for the production of Ka-226Ts in India. The roadmap sets up timelines for production in India, contracting with suppliers and transferring design documentation. This model is able to transport up to 1 ton of payload.
