Bulgaria equips border police ship with drones
Bulgaria’s Directorate-General for Border Police has equipped its 200-tonne ship ‘Balchik’ with a fleet of Alpha A900 uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs)
The UAVs, manufactured by drone firm Alpha Unmanned Systems, will be used to enhance the Directorate-General’s ability to tackle illegal activities on Bulgaria’s borders, as well as support its participation in rescue operations.
The A900s are designed for maritime missions, and can take off and land while at sea. They are also capable of operating in high levels of wind and rain.
Bulgaria acquired its first air ambulance helicopter earlier this year, as part of plans to establish a nationwide helicopter emergency medical services (HEMS) program.
