New H145 for South Australia Police
South Australia Police has partnered with Babcock Australasia to introduce a new Airbus H145 to its fleet
The deal, supported by the South Australian government, is expected to deliver improved police operations across the state. The helicopter offers a reduced noise profile and infrared cameras, among other improvements.
A team of four new pilots recruited by Babcock will be trained to operate the new helicopter, which is due to replace an older rotorcraft in South Australia Police’s fleet.
That aircraft will continue to operate alongside the new one until the training period ends.
“This new twin-engine helicopter is quieter, faster, lighter, more maneuverable and more fuel efficient than the outgoing aircraft, and will provide a critical uplift in capability for the South Australian police force,” said Andrew Cridland, CEO of Babcock Australasia.
Police in Western Australia also received an Airbus H145 in July 2023.
