Safran Helicopter Engines extends partnership with Piaggio Aerospace
The companies will collaborate on production of the Ardiden 3 aeroengine line for both turbopropulsor and helicopter applications
Italian manufacturer Piaggio Aerospace and French manufacturer Safran Helicopter Engines have announced a partnership on future production of the Ardiden 3 line of aeroengines. Although in a very initial phase – the two companies have signed a Letter of Intent – the agreement outlines their cooperation on manufacturing critical parts of Ardiden 3 for turbopropulsor and helicopter applications.
Piaggio and Safran currently collaborate on the RTM322 and Aneto engine lines.
Florent Chauvancy, Executive Vice President of OEM Sales at Safran, commented: “Particularly with the Ardiden 3TP, we are committed to deliver a 100-per-cent European engine featuring high levels of design maturity and competitive operating and maintenance costs. It will be designed, built, and supported by highly experienced teams using state of the art industrial capabilities in Italy, Germany, Spain, and France.”
Safran recently achieved the distinguished goal of completing a helicopter engine test campaign using 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel.
