CHC Helicopter awarded major Australian Civil Aviation regulations
First commercial rotary-wing operator granted Civil Aviation Safety Regulation for Airworthiness and Approved Maintenance.
International helicopter services company CHC Helicopter has become the first commercial rotary-wing operator to receive the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority Regulations (CASR) Part 42 and Part 145, awarded for Continuing Airworthiness and Approved Maintenance, respectively.
The Parts outline maintenance standards and airworthiness review processes, and underscore CHC Helicopter as an approved continuing airworthiness management organization.
Supporting key safety and quality enhancements in aviation
Jason Phipps, CHC APAC Regional Maintenance Manager, celebrated the robustness of the CASR regulations, stating that the ‘former regulatory framework […] does not support several key safety enhancements and quality improvements that CHC recognize are important to our customers’.
Phipps stated that CHC undertook the CASR initiative voluntarily and continued: “This has been a longstanding project, drawing on expertise from within Australia and the global CHC engineering team.”
CHC will transition from CAR 42 and CSR 30 to CASR Part 42 and Part 145 in its continued effort to align with the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers Report 690 on offshore helicopter best practice that came into effect on October 2020.
