Rega rescues e-biker from inaccessible terrain
Swiss emergency services organisation Rega rescued an e-bike rider from inaccessible terrain in Wettingen
The e-biker had fallen and hurt his foot in the woods near Wettingen in Switzerland. Emergency services in Baden, a town close by, could only reach the man by foot. To get him out of the inaccessible terrain, they asked for assistance from Rega.
On the way to the site, Rega picked up a helicopter rescue professional from the fire department of Zurich. The team flew by helicopter over the wooded terrain and lowered the rescue professional down to the patient. The patient was secured to the coil and flown out. After a quick stopover to get the patient into the helicopter, he was transported to the nearest hospital.
In a statement, Rega said: “Operations like this one, using the coil in the woods when it is getting dark, are challenging. It is difficult for the crew to assess the distances correctly and read the terrain.”
