Jet Rescue offer transport of Covid-19 patients
Florida-based Jet Rescue Air Ambulance (Jet Rescue) was the first North American air ambulance to offer transport of Covid-19 patients
Three years ago, Jet Rescue was one of the first air ambulances to acquire isolation transport capabilities. The crew was outfitted with biohazard protective clothing and trained to provide care in the confined cabin space of an air ambulance.
Shai Gold, Managing Director of Corporate Strategy and Development for Jet Rescue, said: “Our ongoing investment in staff development and in best-in-class equipment have resulted in an ability to provide outstanding quality medical care and best value aeromedical service. We are ready to service the nation and our clients.”
Jet Rescue have now rescued multiple people with suspected cases of Covid-19. One of these patients was a 65-year-old American who contracted Covid-19 while in Aruba.
“We received a call from a very concerned wife of the patient. She explained that her husband was admitted to a hospital in Aruba and that they were both growing very uncomfortable, and quite concerned, with inconsistencies with results of Covid-19 screening tests that was conducted at the hospital in Aruba. She wanted him back in the medical safety of the US and we took immediate action, dispatching our MedEvac Isolation Transport Team” said Carlos Salinas, CEO of Jet Rescue.
Shortly after, Jet Rescue repatriated a 49-year-old Canadian who suffered a stroke while vacationing in Cancun. He was hospitalized in a unit that co-mingled patients with Covid-19.
“Jet Rescue is one of very few aeromedical transport companies in the US, and the only company in Mexico and Latin-America, that is capable of flying patients with Covid-19 to the medical safety of their home countries” said Salinas. “The Covid-19 crisis is like nothing we have seen before. It is highly infectious and rapidly becomes fatal. Transporting a patient with a suspected or known biohazard condition, requires special expertise and equipment.”
