DRF Luftrettung flies millionth mission
Mission flown on 19 August, and marked by the hashtag #TeamEineMillionPlus with crews sharing their stories
On 19 August, DRF Luftrettung flies its millionth air rescue mission, urgently transporting a 27-year old woman experiencing premature labor to hospital. Although the mission itself was conducted successfully without incident, the milestone was marked with the social media hashtag #TeamEineMillionPlus with pilots and crewmembers sharing their mission stories.
Dr Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung, commented: “It is particularly important to us that we highlight that behind each and every number is a person and individual fate. That is why we are putting the personal stories as experienced and told from many perspectives front centre stage.
“There are umpteen millions of impressions and experiences – from our crews and patients, but also from our partners in the emergency services and our members and fans. Because air rescue requires a team effort, when everyone works hand in hand to save lives.”
From its beginnings in 19 March 1973 with a single helicopter, DRF Luftrettung now flies around 40,000 missions annually, with an average of 110 per day.
DRF Luftrettung recently announced it will begin training pilots as early as 2022 in a bid to meet an increasing demand for helicopter pilots.
