Bristow used three specially configured search and rescue aircraft to fly three suspected Covid-19 cases from offshore installations in the North Sea. The aircraft were introduced to support the industry’s response to the pandemic and not to be used for general crew change flight activities.

Each one of the Sikorsky S-92 helicopters had undergone specific modifications to ensure separation between flight crew, the medic and the patients. After each flight, the aircraft undergo a decontamination process, assisted by a completely waterproof seating and floor.

We are now exploring further options for other parts of the UK, and other industries, as the national response to the coronavirus outbreak gathers pace.”
