PG&E to offer aerial firefighting support to Contra Costa County
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (CCCFPD), in the US state of California, has announced a partnership with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E)
Utility provider PG&E will provide one of its helicopters on a seasonal basis to support and expand the county’s aerial firefighting capabilities.
The helicopter and crew will be based at the Byron Wildland Fire Center (BWFC) in the town of Byron.
CCCFPD stated: “The helicopter will increase the fire district’s ability to quickly contain and suppress vegetation fires across the county.”
The local government of Butte County – also in California – announced plans to seek a similar arrangement with PG&E earlier this year.
