Helicopter manufacturer Leonardo is looking to expand its maintenance and repair services further into Europe with two new agreements with regional partners.
The first agreement signed was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Heliwork Services, a Hampshire, UK-based Authorised Service Centre and Authorised Components Repair Centre. Under the new MoU, Heliwork has been granted full overhaul capability on a range of Leonardo’s models and parts including dynamics and main / tail gear boxes (MGB/TGB). The company becomes the first third party organisation to be granted overhaul capability on the AW109 series MGB/TGB.
According to Leonardo, the agreement aims to serve ‘the large commercial European fleet of multirole AW109s and its variants’.
A second MoU has been signed with SPECTO Aerospace (formerly Airborne Services), based in the Netherlands. This appoints SPECTO as a Blade Repair Centre for the AW109 and AW139 twin engine helicopters across Europe.
