Here's what we have in the April 2020 issue
Our editor, Mandy Langfield, shares her take on the April 2020 issue which is out now!
Plenty of food for thought in this month’s issue of AirMed&Rescue.
The rollout of Safety Management Systems (SMS) across the air medical sector, where they are yet to be mandated, is a credit to the industry. In demonstrating its commitment to ensuring the safety of crew and patients, holding itself to a higher standard than that required by law, the industry has shown a deeply ingrained desire that no member of the EMS community should lose their life while working to care for others. Our feature shows how far the aeromedical sector has come in recent years in their dedication to SMS.
In keeping with the theme of industry progress is our look at how modern technology is affecting search and rescue operators, from avionics to cabin design, and hoist, hook and sling. Improved products, better understanding of dynamics and materials are all contributing to improved outcomes and mission success rates. And maybe the best is yet to come – the pace of technological innovation continues to speed up, which is sure to bring more benefits to the SAR community.
For pilots, we’ve got a special focus on dynamic rollover – the reasons behind this common cause of accidents, and top tips from an experienced pilot on how to mitigate the risk and prevent it from happening to you.
With the spread of Covid-19 putting paid to a series of conferences in the next few months, the AirMed&Rescue team is disappointed not to be able to attend these events and meet our readers and clients. Rest assured we will be keeping an eye on developments with regards to the air medical transportation of this group of patients, with more reporting and investigation soon to come. Our thoughts are with all the frontline responders working harder than ever to save lives right now around the world.
Enjoy this issue, and safe flying to all.
