FAA approve InSight Flight Deck for Dassault Falcon 900B
Dassault Aviation has received approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to install the Universal Avionics’ (UA) InSight Flight Deck upgrade on the Dassault Falcon 900B
The Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval will allow owners to upgrade their cockpit to a four-display InSight system, while maintaining ‘existing factory-delivered and OEM-supported flight management systems’. The system is compatible with the FANS 1/A+, CPDLC, and ATN B1 solutions already provided by Dassault Aviation and Dassault Falcon Jet.
The Insight Flight Deck features a 3D Synthetic Vision System and 2D interactive digital maps and offers larger-format displays with higher brightness levels and more intuitive displays. The upgrade also increases the available payload by 91kg (200lb) by replacing outdated technology with modern equivalents, including five cathode ray tube displays.
“The InSight Display System continues to gain significant momentum in the market, with nine STCs available or in advanced development, demonstrating the scalability of the system for business aviation,” said Dror Yahav, UA’s CEO. “Upcoming upgrades for Enhanced Flight Vision Systems and Flight Deck Connectivity will bring the updated airplane into the front line of business jets.”
Aviation Specialties Unlimited was awarded STC approval from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for the installation of night vision systems on a number of Bell aircraft in March.
