Aviation Logistics orders 10 Vertiia eVTOLs
Australian aerospace firm AMSL Aero has received an order from Aviation Logistics for 10 of its Vertiia hydrogen-electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft
Aviation Logistics will be AMSL Aero’s first civil aviation customer – in addition to the base order for a batch of 10 eVTOLs, the contract includes options for a further 10.
The aircraft are expected to be used by Aviation Logistics through its associated companies AirMed, Air Link, and Chartair – providing air medical, air cargo, and passenger services from its seven bases across Australia. Pending regulatory approval, it is hoped that the new fleet could enter operation as early as 2027.
“2024 is going to be a huge year for AMSL Aero as we continue to test-fly the aircraft, and we are thrilled to kick off with our first civil order for Vertiia,” said Max York, CEO of AMSL Aero.
Matthew Kline, Aviation Logistics’ Executive Director, said: “Today’s announcement is a sign of our commitment to the future development of sustainable air transport in Australia and represents a significant investment that will secure Aviation Logistics’ future as one of Australia’s leading aviation companies.”
Aviation Logistics Director Mark Wardrop added: “We believe it is only a matter of time before electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft are transporting people across Australia, and Vertiia has the potential to change the way people living in rural and regional communities access services such as education and healthcare located in major centers.”
AMSL Aero previously worked with critical care air medical retrieval service CareFlight to develop a medical cabin interior for the Vertiia – which was showcased at the 2023 Avalon International Airshow.
