AAMS to train clinicians to enter the air medical industry
The US-based Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS) has launched a free 40-week training program for clinicians
The 40-week structured training program is for clinicians interested in entering the air medical industry and will be offered at no cost to the student through a newly announced partnership between the former ECHO Future Flight Crew faculty and the AAMS.
Led by Academy Director Shane Turner, the former director of ECHO Future Flight Crew, the Academy began in 2016 to provide education and training developed and presented by volunteer flight crewmembers from around the country. The new program, which will begin in the second quarter of 2021, will be led by 10 experienced instructors with the support of AAMS.
Training the best possible flight clinicians
“I look forward to this exciting new partnership with AAMS,” said Shane Turner. “Our Academy pledges to deliver the latest, evidence-based, highest quality, and all-inclusive curriculum available to ensure we are training the best possible flight clinicians for the sole purpose of improving our industry.”
Additional details regarding the application process, as well as a schedule of both virtual and in-person training sessions, will be detailed in the coming weeks at AAMS.org.
Positively impacting transport medicine services
“This agreement with the faculty is part of our new strategic plan to create and deliver innovative programs that nurture and positively impact transport medicine services, professionals, and the patients they serve,” said Cameron Curtis, AAMS President and CEO. “The new Critical Care Transport Academy is an addition to our other credentialing programs – the Medical Transport Leadership Institute and the Safety Management Transport Academy – and will lead to a new Certified Medical Transport Professional credential.”
Recently, AAMS announced two additions to its leadership team – Matthew Fox and Christina Childs.
